How to Save a TikTok Video to Your Camera Roll

TikTok's Save video button is not available on every post, and Safari saves downloads to Files first. Here is the simplest way to get a public TikTok video into your camera roll.

TikTok's Save video button is not the only option

TikTok may hide its Save video button when a creator has disabled downloads. The button also saves a watermarked copy when it is available. For a public post, you can instead copy the share link and download the video through a browser.

The browser method gives you a regular MP4 file. On iPhone, the file may land in Files before it reaches Photos. On Android, it normally appears in the Downloads folder or Gallery after the browser finishes.

Save a TikTok video on iPhone

In TikTok, tap Share and Copy link. Open Safari, paste the link into the TikTok video downloader, and choose the MP4 download. When Safari finishes, open Files and go to Browse, then Downloads.

Tap the downloaded video, then tap the Share icon and choose Save Video. Open Photos and check Recents. The video should now be in your camera roll rather than only inside the Files app.

Save a TikTok video on Android

Copy the TikTok share link, open Chrome, paste it into the downloader, and choose MP4. When the download finishes, open the Files app or Downloads notification. Depending on your phone, the video may appear in Downloads, Gallery, or Google Photos.

If it is in Downloads but not in your gallery, open the file and use the phone's Move or Save option to place it in the Movies folder. Gallery apps usually scan that folder automatically.

If the video is missing

First check the browser's download list and the Files app. On iPhone, check both iCloud Drive and On My iPhone under Downloads. On Android, pull down the notification shade after downloading or search the Files app for an MP4 file.

If there is no file, try the full TikTok URL instead of the shortened share link. Also check that the post is still public and that you copied the link to the video itself, not the creator's profile.

What happens to the watermark

The TikTok app's own save feature adds the moving TikTok logo and username. The downloader retrieves the public source video when it is available, so the resulting MP4 does not add that watermark. Always keep the creator's permission and reuse terms in mind before reposting a clip.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Copy the video link

Tap Share on the TikTok post and choose Copy link.

  2. 2

    Paste it into the downloader

Open the downloader in Safari or Chrome, paste the link, and start the download.

  3. 3

    Choose the MP4 file

Select the available video quality and wait for the browser download to finish.

  4. 4

Move it to your camera roll

On iPhone, use Files and Save Video. On Android, open Downloads and move the file to Movies if needed.

Ready to try it?

The tiktok video downloader is free, works in your browser, and takes about 30 seconds per video.

FAQ

Why cannot I save some TikTok videos in the app?

Creators can disable TikTok's built-in Save video option. A public post may still be accessible through its share link, while private or removed posts are not available.

Where are TikTok downloads saved on iPhone?

Safari normally saves them in Files under Downloads, either in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone. Use the Share menu on the file and choose Save Video to put it in Photos.

Where are TikTok downloads saved on Android?

Start with the Downloads folder or the download notification. Some Android phones show the file in Gallery automatically; otherwise move the MP4 to the Movies folder.

Can I save a TikTok slideshow this way?

Support depends on the post because a slideshow is image-based rather than a standard video. Regular public video posts are the most reliable.

Does saving a TikTok video notify the creator?

The browser download itself does not send a download notification. You are still responsible for respecting the creator's copyright and reuse preferences.
